This lot comes from Las Brisas farm in the Pitalito area of Huila, where young producer Brayan represents the third generation of coffee growers in his family. He grew up surrounded by coffee and, from an early age, witnessed the amount of work, care and energy his family put into every harvest. Today, he continues this tradition with his own approach, combining the experience of previous generations with a strong focus on quality and the development of specialty coffee production. Alongside working on his own farm, Brayan also collaborates with other smallholder farmers in the area. He shares his knowledge and experience with them, provides tools and helps improve their farming practices. He is also the leader of a coffee association that brings together producers from the Huila region and works collectively towards producing higher-quality and more complex coffees. At Las Brisas, located at an altitude of 1500–1800 m above sea level, he grows several varieties, including Pink Bourbon, Geisha, Sidra, Castillo, Caturra and Chili Bourbon. This particular lot consists exclusively of Caturra, which underwent washed processing with a slightly longer fermentation than usual. The result is a very clean and elegant cup that also carries some attributes typically associated with natural processing - higher sweetness and greater body. It is a great example of Brayan’s approach to coffee, respecting tradition while constantly looking for ways to push quality further.
